The farmer accused of abducting and killing an Arkansas jogger joined a Facebook group dedicated to searching for the missing woman.
Quake Lewellyn, 28, had been “familiar” with 25-year-old Sydney Sutherland and was listed as a member of a Facebook page created for her after she vanished on a jog last week near Newport, People reported.
Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas also confirmed the pair knew each other, though he didn’t provide more details about the nature of their relationship, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
For two days, authorities searched for Sutherland before locating a body Friday not far from her home. A DNA test later confirmed the remains were those of the missing jogger.
Lewellyn was arrested on charges of capital murder, kidnapping and rape in Sutherland’s case — but authorities have offered few details about the circumstances surrounding her death.
He made his first court appearance Monday and was ordered held without bond. He’s set to appear next in court Oct. 1.
